Lappet-faced (Nubian) Vulture aggressively takes a "Darth Vader" stance at a Zebra Carcass-Mara River, Kenya
Rüppell's Griffon Vultures and a Marabou Stork look on as the Lappet-faced Vulture (Nubian Vulture) aggressively takes a "Darth Vader" stance trying to dominate a zebra carcass on the Mara River banks. The vultures play a key role in the crossing. Many wildebeest and zebra die in the water or are taken by lions waiting for the smorgasbord that passes before them as the animals exit. The carcasses would make the savanna a bacterial pit unless the vultures tidied up the mess.
