6 Cheetah Drags Prey to More Protected Area after Kill

The Cheetah rests for a minute after running down her prey. Then immediately begins carrying the Tommie to a more protected location. Although considered a "big cat," cheetahs are at the bottom of the predator hierarchy, behind lions, leopards and even hyenas and packs of vultures. She must exert an extreme amount of energy to run down prey at 60 mph; often they don't get to keep what they catch. This can be a real problem for moms trying to feed several cubs.
